Ginseng Did Not Take Viagra as Main Treatment for Impotence

In contrast from the reports made earlier that ginseng offers a promising replacement for synthetic drugs like Viagra and Cialis in treating impotence, the same was contradicted that it could take a longer time before ginseng can be an effective natural cure for the symptoms of erectile dysfunction. The earlier claim about the effectiveness of ginseng as an alternative natural cure for impotence symptoms is founded on the random clinical trial where ginseng was administered to a group of males with erectile dysfunction.

The study revealed that there is a less promising effect that occurred with ginseng in terms of improving erectile function, orgasmic function, intercourse satisfaction, sexual desire and overall sexual satisfaction. According to the NHS Choices, reports have refuted the claim that ginseng can replace Viagra as an effective treatment for erectile dysfunction. While ginseng did not meet the expected relief from the symptoms of impotence, the only exception is the ejaculation function that provided the positive result with ginseng.

The ability to achieve an adequate delay in ejaculation during sexual activity is quite improved with ginseng where the placebo study showed some modest improvement. The positive outcome, on the other hand, is not accurately identified whether it was really due to ginseng or from factors involving the men themselves as subjects of the study. While the researchers of the study did not mean to directly claim that ginseng will replace Viagra in the management of erectile dysfunction, it was apparently taken out of context by some reports that were released in the news resulting in the overstatement of the result of the study. The study was released as a peer-reviewed journal that was published by the International Journal of Impotence Research.

To date, Viagra is the only drug that is approved by the Food and Drug Authority in the management of erectile dysfunction. It has a generic counterpart in the form of Cialis which is also approved by the FDA and is considered to be a cost-effective alternative drug for Viagra because it is cheaper but believed to be as effective as Viagra. There are many attempts in discovering other natural remedies that would help counteract the symptoms of erectile dysfunction but nothing has been successful in relieving Viagra from its throne as the blue pill that mainly treats impotence in men.

Ginseng has become a popular natural remedy in the treatment of many medical conditions and attempts were made to discover on its potential to provide an alternative natural medicine as the treatment for erectile dysfunction. The study made in South Korea regarding the health benefits of ginseng in impotence did not provide very significant results. Perhaps the study conducted was not able to cover all areas of the condition as erectile dysfunction involves complex areas that need more thorough studies.
